The Department of Computer Science, Electrical and Space Engineering conducts education and research in space-related fields and participates in the European University alliance project UNIVERSEH 2.0 (European Space University for Earth and Humanity): https://universeh.eu/

UNIVERSEH 2.0 aims to further develop and strengthen the alliance’s position as the leading European university focused on space. The project offers a multilingual, interdisciplinary, innovative, and inclusive learning environment for students, researchers, and external stakeholders. A key objective is to bring together academia and stakeholders to address the evolving needs of the global space labour market. The project includes a variety of activities and events that promote collaboration between universities, industry, and society. These activities are important for addressing emerging societal challenges, developing future-oriented competencies, and contributing to sustainable growth within the space sector.

Duties

You will be part of a dynamic and international team within UNIVERSEH 2.0 and will work on activities related to Work Package 7 (WP7) – Service to Society. This work package focuses on collaboration between universities, the space industry, public-sector organizations, the wider community, and student space organizations.

Your duties will include planning, coordinating, and implementing activities and events. You will contribute to maintaining contacts with companies and organizations in the space sector, support collaborations with student-led space organizations, and work with different activities within the WP7.

The position also includes participating in project meetings, contributing to the monitoring and reporting of activities, and supporting the achievement of project objectives and deliverables within the work package.

Qualifications and Experience

Applicants must be enrolled in a master’s programme in a space-related field and have completed at least two semesters of study, including at least one semester at the Kiruna Space Campus. You must be able to demonstrate strong academic performance in space-related subjects.

Excellent command of English, both written and spoken, is required.

For this position, it is important that you possess strong communication and collaboration skills, are attentive and responsive to others, and have a solution-oriented and results-driven approach to your work. You should be able to handle multiple tasks simultaneously, work effectively under pressure, and prioritize responsibilities when necessary.

You should also have the ability to maintain a broad perspective, formulate clear objectives, and translate them into concrete and measurable activities. A structured and systematic working style, together with the ability to manage deadlines, resources, and risks effectively, is essential.

Terms

Employment as an amanuensis (teaching/research assistant) is regulated by Chapter 5 of the Swedish Higher Education Ordinance. Only students admitted to first-cycle (Bachelor’s level) or second-cycle (Master’s level) education may be employed as an amanuensis (Higher Education Ordinance, Chapter 5, Section 10).

Hourly Salary/Compensation

All assignments are compensated with an hourly salary and provide valuable professional experience for your CV.

The hourly salary depends on the complexity of the duties:

• Level 1: SEK 156/hour (equivalent to approximately SEK 25,700/month for full-time work).
• Level 2: SEK 171/hour (equivalent to approximately SEK 28,200/month for full-time work).

Information

The position corresponds to 40% of full-time employment, equivalent to an average of two days per week, for a period of five months, from 17 August 2026 to 31 January 2027, or as otherwise agreed. The duty station is Kiruna.

The workload may vary over time and by agreement, but the intention is to distribute the work in a manner compatible with university studies.
